The active principles of mushrooms, source of cosmetic innovation

Los principios activos de las setas, fuente de innovación cosmética

Equipo Editorial Hifas |

In recent years, natural ingredients of botanical and marine origin have transformed cosmetic formulation. Mushroom extracts are a newer addition: they naturally contain polysaccharides such as beta-glucans, as well as vitamins, amino acids and other compounds of interest for skin care.

Three mushrooms in skin care

  • Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) – contains polysaccharides and triterpenes, and is used in formulations designed to help protect the skin from environmental stress and keep it looking smooth.
  • Cordyceps (Cordyceps sinensis) – used in formulations that help the skin look rested and radiant.
  • Sun Mushroom (Agaricus blazei) – naturally rich in beta-glucans, used in moisturising formulations.
